Father and son. Party DJs since 1998. Retired, mostly.
Every legend has an origin story. Ours starts in 1998 in a school hall with wood panelling, one speaker stack and some fairy lights.
The Black Box Boys are Darren and Colin, son and dad. What began as a mission to save a local school disco turned into years of party DJ sets, production and design for discos, parties and events, plus a nightclub night and more stages than either of them can count. There were matching shirts (lots of them), sparkly disco booths, Santa hats and one memorable chat with Beetlejuice.
Along the way the Black Box Boys grew into the BBB Group, with Event Production Live doing the big, loud, brilliantly lit stuff.
The headphones are hung up now and the Black Box Boys no longer take disco bookings. But every now and then the two of them reunite for a very special occasion: a ribbon that urgently needs cutting, a shop that needs opening, or anything where matching shirts are actively encouraged. Cake helps.
